Frequently asked questions
Where do I publish the record?
As a TXT record on the domain itself (host @ or blank). Replace any existing SPF record rather than adding a second one.
Should I include my MX?
Only if your inbound mail servers also send outbound mail. For Google or Microsoft hosted mail use their include instead.
How long can an SPF record be?
Each TXT string is limited to 255 characters, but a record can contain several strings; keep the whole record under about 450 characters to avoid UDP truncation.
