The AI command explainer breaks a command into its parts and tells you what each option, pipe and redirect does before you press Enter. Every answer starts with a risk rating — Safe, Caution, Dangerous or Destructive — so a copied one-liner with rm -rf, chmod -R 777 or a curl piped into bash cannot surprise you.
AI answers can be wrong. Read every command before you run it, and test on a non-production server first. Your input is sent to our AI provider (srvScripts AI) to write the answer. srvScripts does not log your input; the answer, which can quote it, is cached for 24 hours so a repeat question is answered instantly. See the privacy policy.

It is useful when you inherit someone else’s runbook, follow an old forum answer or review a colleague’s change.
How to use the AI command explainer
- Choose the shell: Bash, PowerShell, Windows cmd or SQL.
- Paste the command or one-liner.
- Press Explain command.
What you get
- A one-line risk rating with the reason.
- A part-by-part explanation of options, pipes and redirects.
- Side effects: files changed, services restarted, data deleted or ports opened.
- A safer alternative when the risk is Caution or higher.
Worked example
Example: you paste chown -R nobody:nobody /home/*/public_html from an old forum answer. The explainer rates it Dangerous: it changes the owner of every file in every account, which breaks suPHP, PHP-FPM and FTP access. It suggests fixing one account with the correct user and group instead and checking ownership first with find -not -user.
Tips for better answers
- Paste the whole pipeline, not just the first command.
- For permission numbers use the chmod calculator; for schedules use the cron expression helper.

Privacy and limits
Before anything is sent, srvScripts removes private keys, passwords, tokens and API keys it recognises. With the box ticked it also swaps public IP addresses and e-mail addresses for placeholders, which lowers the risk when you paste real logs. The masking is automatic and best effort: it can miss names, hostnames, keys or other customer details, so remove anything confidential before you paste. Your text goes to our AI provider only to write the answer. srvScripts does not save your input as a record of its own, but the masked input is sent to the AI provider to produce the answer, and the answer, which can quote parts of your input, is cached on our server for 24 hours so a repeat question is answered instantly, and is then deleted. The provider’s own API data terms apply to what it receives. Without an account you get 5 runs a day, a free account gets 15 and srvScripts Pro 200, with larger inputs.

Frequently asked questions
Does the AI command explainer run my command?
No. Nothing is executed; the command is only explained.
What counts as Destructive?
Anything that deletes data or makes a system unbootable or unreachable, such as recursive deletes, disk formatting or dropping databases.
Can it spot obfuscated commands?
It warns about encoded payloads and curl-to-shell patterns, but always inspect scripts from unknown sources yourself.
