See the current time in several zones at once, convert any date and time from one zone to others, and get the exact settings to put a server, PHP, MySQL, WordPress or a cron job on the time zone you choose. Zone names, offsets and daylight saving dates come from your browser’s up-to-date time zone database.

Converting a time between zones
Choose a date and time and the zone it belongs to, and the table shows the same moment in every zone on your clock, with the UTC offset and whether the date changes. Add more zones by typing a city name. The Unix timestamp of that moment is shown too.
Setting the time zone on a server
A hosting server has several separate time zone settings: the system zone (timedatectl), PHP’s date.timezone, the MySQL or MariaDB server zone and, for WordPress, its own Timezone setting. When they disagree, logs, cron jobs, emails and order times show different hours. Pick the snippets for your zone and set them together.
Many administrators keep the system and database on UTC and set the local zone only in applications, which avoids daylight saving surprises in logs and backups.
Daylight saving and cron jobs
Cron runs in the server’s zone. When clocks go forward, times in the skipped hour do not exist, and when they go back, one hour happens twice. Most cron daemons run a fixed-time job once and run jobs from a skipped hour right after the change, but critical jobs are safest outside 01:00 to 03:00 local time, or on a server that runs in UTC.
Use zone names, not abbreviations
Configure zones by their IANA names such as Europe/London or America/New_York. Abbreviations like EST or IST are ambiguous (IST is used in India, Ireland and Israel), and fixed offsets such as +05:00 do not follow daylight saving.

Frequently asked questions
Why does WordPress show a different time from my server?
WordPress keeps PHP on UTC and applies the zone set in Settings, General. If that setting or PHP’s date.timezone differs from the server zone, times differ; set all of them to the same zone name.
Should a server run on UTC?
It is a common and safe choice: logs from several servers line up and there are no daylight saving jumps. Set the local zone in PHP, WordPress or the application where people read the times.
Do I need to restart anything after changing the zone?
Yes. Restart crond, PHP-FPM and MariaDB or MySQL so they read the new zone; long-running services keep the zone they started with.
